DAY 1
Arrive Shangarh
Reach Aut in the morning and drive up the Sainj Valley to Shangarh. Afternoon at the meadow, Shangchul Mahadev temple and Barshangarh waterfall. Overnight in Shangarh.
DAY 2
Pundrik Rishi lake
Day hike with a local guide to Pundrik Rishi lake through forest above Shangarh. Overnight in Shangarh.
DAY 3
Raila and departure
Drive to Raila village to see the old fort and waterfall, then on to Aut to board the evening bus to Delhi, arriving next morning.
Shangarh is a village in the Sainj Valley built around a large, flat meadow ringed by deodar forest. Because the meadow is sacred to Shangchul Mahadev, it has stayed open and undeveloped. Two quiet nights here give time for the temple and waterfall, a day hike to Pundrik Rishi lake and a stop at Raila on the way out.
Departure point: Ex Delhi. Overnight bus or Tempo Traveller from Delhi to Aut the evening before Day 1; return overnight from Aut after Day 3.
